Online Tickets

Why provide online ticket sales?

We like to provide our customers with a number of options to get tickets for our performances. Customers can now visit any of our ticket locations, call our ticket locations and charge by phone, or buy and print tickets online.

Why are you using a ticket system/agency?

Selling and tracking tickets takes a tremendous amount of volunteer time and effort. Most of our volunteers have full time or more than full time jobs and just don't have the time to spend many, many hours on ticketing. We've been looking for a way to automate the ticketing process and track tickets for several years. For 2009/2010, we are going try Tix.com to handle our ticketing. The Tix system will handle both the box office, which includes walk-up and phone orders, and online tickets. The biggest frustration with ticket systems and the reason it has taken so long to find a solution is the cost.

Many ticket system/agencies advertise that they have no cost to presenters. The problem is they add anywhere from 10% to 20% or more to the cost of tickets to our customers. We believe that our market is somewhat price sensitive and adding $3 to $5 per ticket is unreasonable. Tix provides us with the basic functions we think we need and the price is reasonable enough we are including the system cost in our ticket prices for this year anyway. There will be no surcharge or service charges on our tickets for the 2009/2010 season.

Does Tix provide print-at-home tickets?

Yes. You can now buy Bragg Creek Performing Arts tickets online and print your tickets on your home laser or inkjet printer.

We will no longer mail tickets for online purchases. We ask that customers purchasing tickets online, print their tickets and bring them to the performance. You can print the tickets immediately after payment confirmation or print the tickets from the ticket purchase confirmation email.

Why have you changed from Paypal?

When we first started selling tickets online a few years ago, ticket systems and interfaces to credit card companies were very expensive. Paypal allowed us to sell tickets online at a cost equivalent to the charges we pay for telephone sales. Gateway charges have dropped and we can now process credit cards via the banking system for about the cost as we pay for telephone sales.

In addition, once the Paypal sale occurred, the ticketing process was manual. The notification e-mail had to get to our ticket volunteers who had to mail the tickets or put them aside for pickup. With our new system, once the sale is verified, our customers can immediately print their tickets. The system tracks the ticket sales and automatically cuts off when we sell out. We can also tell how many tickets have been sold at any time.
